21st day of School

Here we are on the 21st day of school and I finally feel as if I’m getting caught up. We are settling in to our routines, learning names, and figuring out how to walk in the hallways. The kids are becoming more comfortable with me and I’m not calling them by the wrong names!

The class is very excited about our new Smart board and look forward to calendar time each day. Our calendar routine is done solely on the Smart board and the students and I are learning how to use it as we go.

The beginning of the year is always such an exciting, exhausting, and wonderful time. Kindergarten Rocks!!

Oh my goodness! Unpacking a newly renovated room is no fun! I love my new carpet and furniture and especially my Smart board!! But I do not love the amount of junk I have accumulated. Ugh!!! I need to take a lesson from Clean House! It is time to get rid of some stuff. My new mantra will be: Keep? Recycle? Throw away? I know I can do it, I know I can do it, I know……

So….I am able to get into my room today. I am very excited but feeling very overwhelmed. There is a lot of furniture to move and boxes to unpack. The room is beautiful and I will posting pics shortly (before and after).

22 days till the kids arrive

the time is flying by. August is here, which means school is fastly approaching. 22 more days till Kindergarten open house. Ugh!! So much to do, so little time.

My room is almost finished. I will be able to get in and start unpacking on Sat. I cannot wait to see it clean and with the furniture all in place. Very exciting. As I wait to get into my classroom I am trying to get beginning of the year letters, books, and information in order.

I need to make a list. Actually…….I need to make SEVERAL lists! Ha!

Oh my goodness!!! I have so much to do. I cannot wait to see my remodeled classroom! I’m sure it’s fabulous because I picked out the furniture!

I am continuing my research on the daily 5 and readers workshop and how best to integrate them into my kindergarten classroom. Great discussions today with my cohorts in my graduate class.
